15 KM Kelud Crew Recovers Recover From Covid-19

After showing negative results for two consecutive swab checks.

Batam, May 3, 2020 - A total of 15 KM Kelud crews treated at the Covid-19 Infection Special Hospital, Galang Island, have now been cured of Covid-19 after showing negative results during two consecutive swab checks.

The Head of Corporate Secretariat of PT PELNI (Persero), Yahya Kuncoro explained that currently the 15 crew members had been picked up by PELNI Management in Batam and in the process of returning to the domicile of each crew. Until now (3/5), a total of 26 KM Kelud crew members have been declared cured and negative from Covid-19.

"Thank God PELNI continues to receive good news related to the development of the health conditions of the entire crew of the ship. Management would like to thank all the medical teams who have cared for and helped the healing process of the entire crew," he explained.

Yahya added that out of the 40 crew members treated, currently, there are still 14 crew members who are undergoing the process of recovery and waiting for the results of the swab inspection. The health conditions of the crew are in good condition and healthy. Management continues to monitor the healthy development of the entire crew, especially those currently undergoing maintenance.

"We continue to monitor the development of their health, both those that have been declared cured and those who are still undergoing treatment. We always remind them to continue to live a healthy and clean lifestyle. Management also continues to provide support and enthusiasm in undergoing this process," he continued.

On the same occasion, PELNI Management also provided assistance for the Covid-19 Infection Special Hospital on Galang Island in the form of 75 blankets. "We hope this assistance can be useful and can be used to complement the equipment needs at the hospital," Yahya added.

PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise that operates in the field of sea transportation has currently operated as many as 26 passenger ships and visited 83 ports and served 1,100 sections.

In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which become a means of accessibility for population mobility in the T3P area where pioneer vessels stop at 275 ports with 3,739 sections. PELNI also operates a total of 20 Rede vessels.

Whereas in the logistics business services, PELNI now operates 4 cargo ships, 8 sea toll vessels and 1 cattle-specific vessel.
