Boarding KM Labobar, 315 Participants of Fun Homecoming with BUMN Depart from Balikpapan to Surabaya

Balikpapan, April 5, 2024 - - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) departed 315 participants of the Fun Homecoming Program with BUMN 2024 from Balikpapan to Surabaya. It is estimated that 32,000 travelers will depart from Semayang Port, Balikpapan during the period of March 26 to April 26, 2024.

PELNI Vice President Fauziah Ferryna who oversees the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL) said that interest in this free homecoming is very high. "However, due to limited quotas and the administrative selection process from the beginning, we were only able to send off 315 participants with KM Labobar from Balikpapan to Surabaya," explained Rina, her nickname.

In addition to Rina, also present to send off the participants were PELNI Commissioner Budi Mantoro, Secretary of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation Lollan Andi Sutomo Panjaitan, and Head of the Balikpapan PELNI Branch Djasman.

Sunaryi, one of the homecoming participants and a worker in Bontang, admitted to taking advantage of the Mudik Asyik Bersama BUMN program to return to her hometown in Madura. "This program makes it easier for us to meet our families and celebrate Eid in the village. Hopefully next year we can take part in the free homecoming again," said Sunaryi who brought his wife and two children.

Meanwhile, PELNI Commissioner Budi Mantoro appealed to free homecoming participants to maintain their health and safety during the voyage. "While sailing, please take care of your belongings and family members, because there are a lot of homecoming travelers on the ship. And especially take care of the safety facilities, don't damage them, let alone take them home," said Budi Mantoro.

Meanwhile, Head of PELNI Balikpapan Branch Djasman revealed that the peak of the homecoming trip from Semayang Balikpapan Port will take place on April 5 and 7, 2024. "Until April 26 or the end of the 2024 Eid Transportation period, we estimate the number of homecoming travelers departing from Balikpapan will reach 32,000 people, and the largest number is for and boarding from Surabaya," explained Djasman.
