Jakarta, 11 April 2020 - In line with Government policy, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) - PT PELNI (Persero) requires all passengers traveling on PELNI ships to wear masks as a form of preventing the spread of COVID-19 on board. The policy has been socialized since Friday (9/4) and takes effect from 12 April 2020.
"For all of our customers, we expect cooperation in the use of masks when traveling with PELNI vessels. Management will not allow to board ships if they do not use masks," explained Chief Corporate Secretary of PT PELNI (Persero), Yahya Kuncoro.
Management has also instructed all Branches to supervise and remind passengers of the obligation to use masks. "This is one of the efforts we can do to prevent the spread of the virus in the area of the ship," he added.
PT PELNI (Persero) has also socialized the policy through announcements posted at each branch office, counter, and the Company's official social media account (@ pelni162).
As a form of anticipation to prevent the spread of COVID-19, PELNI consistently measures body temperature for all passengers before boarding the ship. The company also sprayes disinfectants on all its ships on a regular basis, as well as applying physical distances for passengers by adjusting the distance between passengers as far as 1-2 meters on the bed number and when waiting in line to eat.
Likewise with the hand sanitizer that has been provided on each deck of the passenger, hand washing soap in each toilet, providing masks for sick passengers in the middle of the trip, as well as giving advice on health through loudspeakers every three hours.
PELNI is a State-Owned Enterprise that operates in the field of sea transportation which currently operates as many as 26 passenger ships and visits 83 ports and serves 1,100 parts. In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer vessel routes which become a means of accessibility for population mobility in the T3P area where pioneer vessels stop at 275 ports with 3,739 parts.
