PELNI Optimistic Until the End of December To Bring 3 Million Customers

PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) transported 2.76 million customers until August 2022. This number experienced a 191 percent jump from the same period in 2021.

Jakarta, October 14, 2022 - - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) transported 2.76 million customers until August 2022. This number experienced a 191 percent jump from the same period in 2021.
Head of the Corporate Secretariat of PT PELNI Opik Taupik said, the number of customers transported until last August had exceeded the number of passengers transported during 2021. "In 2021, the total number of customers transported was 2.28 million and we have exceeded this achievement in August last year. By the end of 2022, we believe that this number can reach the 3 million customers we transport," said Opik.
The increase in the number of PELNI ship customers, Opik added, could not be separated from the looser domestic travel policy. However, Opik emphasized that PT PELNI continues to remind its customers to continue to apply health protocols and ensure that they have received up to the third dose of Covid-19 vaccination.
"The policy of traveling with PELNI ships still refers to government policies. We will continue to remind our customers to pay attention to policy developments so that traveling with PELNI ships is safer and more comfortable for all customers," he added.
Meanwhile, Opik informed that PT PELNI had posted a consolidated profit of Rp 152 billion as of August 2022, or 233 percent above the target until August 2022. "When compared to the same period last year, this profit achievement rose 408 percent for the period up to August," explained Opik.
"For 2023, we are targeting a profit of Rp 233 billion and Rp 355 billion in 2024. Of this target, about 24 percent of it is obtained from goods business revenues. The goods business will later become the main support for PELNI's business," said Opik.
Opik believes that this positive performance cannot be separated from the transformation efforts that have been launched by the Company since 2019. This transformation has been stated in the Company's Long Term Plan or RJPP from 2020 to 2024.
"In 2023, PELNI will strengthen shipping management and business expansion and in 2024 build a national shipping holding company, as we have compiled in the 2020-2024 RJPP roadmap," said Opik.
Specifically for the national shipping holding company, what is meant here is the holding structure within PELNI which will be composed of subholding shipping, subholding logistics, subholding services, and subholding property. "The concept of holding the PELNI version will be supported by the presence of PELNI subsidiaries and PELNI business units that already exist or will be formed later," said Opik.
Subholding shipping will be supported by PELNI's production equipment, which currently has 106 vessels consisting of passenger, freight, pioneer, rede and livestock vessels. For subholding logistics, PELNI's subsidiaries and grandchildren are engaged in loading and unloading and retail and the same applies to subholding services supported by subsidiaries in services and property business units to support property subholding.
"The entire ecosystem is currently owned by the PELNI Group and will be strengthened to realize the concept of the national shipping holding company in 2024. Of course, with the support and collaboration with the government, local governments, port and logistics stakeholders, and customers, we are confident that we can realize the roadmap that has been set. we arrange until 2024," said Opik.
PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in sea transportation currently operates 26 passenger ships and stops at 76 ports and serves 1,058 segments.
In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 44 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in disadvantaged, remote, outermost and border areas (3TP) where Pioneer Ships stop at 281 ports with a total of 3,695 segments. PELNI also operates 16 Rede Vessels. For logistics business services, currently PELNI operates 10 routes of the Sea Toll Road as well as one special route for livestock transportation.*
