Semarang, 30 December 2022 - - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) distributed 5000 food aid packages for residents of Karimunjawa Island. Packages of basic necessities were transported by KM Kelimutu from Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang, Central Java, Friday (30/12).
The basic food assistance is an initiative of the Ministry of Transportation through the Tanjung Emas Port Authority and Port Authority Office in Semarang and involves a number of port stakeholders as well as state-owned and private companies. A total of 5,000 basic food packages collected containing 5 kg of rice, 1 kg of sugar and 1 liter of cooking oil.
The process of making food aid for KM Kelimutu at Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang was witnessed directly by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy accompanied by the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, Main Director of PT PELNI Tri Andayani, Director of PT Pelindo Prasetyo, and Central Java Police Chief Ahmad Lutfi.
PT PELNI President Director Tri Andayani said the basic food assistance was raised by the KSOP of Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang to help the people of Karimunjawa who had a shortage of basic food supplies because logistics routes were hampered due to bad weather. "The people of Karimunjawa depend on logistics supplies through Semarang which can only be accessed by sea. Thank God it is still possible for the PELNI ship to continue sailing connecting Karimunjawa and Semarang," said the woman who is familiarly called you.
KM Kelimutu itself has just finished carrying out the task of evacuating 500 tourists who were held up for several days in Karimunjawa due to the attack boat service to Karimunjawa stopping due to bad weather. KM Kelimutu transported tourists from Karimunjawa on Tuesday (27/12).
KM Kelimutu itself has a length of 99 meters, a bow height of 9 meters and a displacement of 1400 tons. This 1000 pax type ship regularly sails Surabaya - Sampit - Semarang - Kumai - Semarang - Karimun Jawa (PP). Specifically for the evacuation of tourists, ships are expedited to arrive in Karimun Jawa from December 30 2022 to December 27 2022. Capt. Anwar Noor acted as the captain of KM Kelimutu in charge of 60 crew members.
The assignment to pick up tourists was initiated by an application letter from the Jepara Regent to the Ministry of Transportation. Furthermore, the Ministry of Transportation assigned PELNI, which immediately made adjustments to the route and schedule of the nearest ship from Karimun Jawa.
Regarding the basic food assistance, you added, "The basic food packages were handed over to KM Kelimutu and will arrive in Karimunjawa Saturday (31/12) morning and will be distributed immediately to the people who need them. Hopefully this assistance can relieve and the weather will improve soon and transportation access will return to normal."
PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in shipping services currently operates 26 Passenger Ships serving 1,058 sections and visiting 76 ports.
Apart from passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 44 Pioneer Ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where Pioneer Ships stop at 281 ports with a total of 3,695 sections. PELNI also operates as many as 16 Rede Ships. For logistics business services, currently PELNI operates 10 Sea Highway routes and 1 special route for Livestock Vessels.
