PELNI TJSL Launches Stunting Prevention Program to Support Indonesia Emas 2045

Surabaya, December 5, 2024 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia, or PT PELNI (Persero), conducted IVA screening and socialization on stunting and tuberculosis (TB) prevention. The event, organized by PELNI's Corporate Social Responsibility (TJSL) program, was held in Krembangan District, Surabaya, on Thursday (5/12).

The health campaign and screening event were attended by Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Health, Prof. Dante Saksono Herbuwono, along with PELNI’s Director of Finance & Risk Management, Anik Hidayati, PELNI Vice President Fauziah Ferryna, and PELNI Surabaya Branch Manager Marthin Heryanto. Also present was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Ari Fahrial Syam.

Anik Hidayati stated that the IVA screenings and awareness programs on stunting and TB aim to increase public awareness and reduce cervical cancer and stunting cases, particularly in Krembangan, Surabaya.

"Following the directive of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, we are proactively engaging through the TJSL Program to enhance public awareness on stunting prevention, supporting the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045," Anik said.

In addition to IVA screenings and stunting education, the TJSL PELNI program included breast and cervical cancer awareness sessions, non-communicable disease screenings, and blood donation drives. Anik hopes that the activities will benefit residents of Krembangan District.

"Through these efforts, healthcare workers involved are expected to detect early signs of stunting, breast cancer, and non-communicable diseases. With this outreach, we hope to raise public awareness significantly," Anik added.

PELNI's TJSL initiative aligns with the third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), promoting good health and well-being. The program supports the SDG target of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages.

"One of the key achievements we aim for under SDG Goal 3 is Universal Health Coverage (UHC). We hope this initiative will bring tangible benefits and assist those with limited access to healthcare services," said PELNI Vice President Fauziah Ferryna.

Ferryna highlighted that the health-focused social responsibility program in Surabaya was carried out in collaboration with ILUNI FKUI 2000/2001 (known as Kompak Medika 94 or KOMET 94) under the Karya Kompak Medika Sembilan Empat Foundation, the Surabaya City Government/PKK/Darma Wanita, and local community leaders.
