Supporting the 1st Century Celebration of Teluk Wondama, PELNI to Present Floating Hotel in Wasior

Jakarta, October 3, 2025 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) has officially signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Government of Teluk Wondama Regency to support the 1st Century Civilization Celebration in Teluk Wondama Regency.

The signing was conducted by PELNI’s Director of Passenger Transport Business, Nuraini Dessy, and the Regent of Teluk Wondama, Elysa Auri, SE., MM, at PELNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday (October 2).

PELNI’s Director of Passenger Transport Business, Nuraini Dessy, stated that PELNI is ready to support religious, tourism, and cultural events, especially in the West Papua region.

“We are proud to contribute to the 1st Century Civilization Celebration in Teluk Wondama Regency through the use of KM Sinabung as a floating hotel. This is a tangible form of PELNI’s commitment to supporting religious and tourism events while providing guests with a comfortable and modern floating accommodation experience,” said Dessy.

PELNI will provide KM Sinabung as a floating hotel in Wasior, Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua, from October 24–25 and October 26–28, 2025. The vessel will operate on the Manokwari–Wasior route to serve the accommodation needs of invited guests during the celebration series.

Dessy also emphasized that this initiative is part of PELNI’s efforts to expand the role of its vessels — not only as a mode of transportation but also as an innovative platform to support strategic regional activities.

“We hope this initiative can serve as a sustainable synergy model to support similar events in the future and generate positive impacts for local communities, including boosting tourist visits,” Dessy added.

The signing ceremony was also attended by regional officials, including the Heads of the Transportation Office, Tourism Office, and Government Administration Office of Teluk Wondama Regency, as well as PELNI Vice Presidents.
