Jakarta, October 23, 2024 – In order to commemorate World Mental Health Day, Srikandi PELNI held a mental health seminar and workshop with the topic “Mental Health Recovery: Sharing is Caring”. This activity was attended by the Secretary General of Srikandi BUMN Indonesia Arien Winiangsih and the President Director of PT PELNI (Persero) Tri Andayani and the Chairperson of Srikandi PELNI Fanny Puspita and was held at the PT PELNI Head Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/23).
President Director of PT PELNI (Persero) Tri Andayani said that mental health is a concern for the Company in building a positive and supportive work environment. "To have a solid team, everyone has positive and strong energy and character. For that, I support Srikandi PELNI to create a pleasant and mutually supportive work environment," said Anda, her nickname.
Meanwhile, the Secretary General of Srikandi BUMN Arien Winiangsih appreciated the holding of the Mental Health seminar which held by Srikandi PELNI. Hopefully, more Srikandi BUMN organizations will be formed in BUMN Companies. Hopefully, Srikandi in Companies can support the development of capacity and capability, and women in BUMN environments can continue to adapt and maintain the balance of their respective ecosystems," said Arien.
Arien also praised the Management of PT PELNI for providing supporting facilities for its employees, such as childcare facilities (daycare) and a music creation room as well as a gym for exercise.
Srikandi PELNI Chair Fanny Puspita explained that the purpose of holding a seminar with the theme and topic of Mental Health is to support mental well-being, create mental health and improve educational facilities for staff in managing mental health in the work environment. "The issue of Mental Health is currently a hot topic on social media. The demands of work as an office employee and the demands of being a wife and mother need to be managed properly so that they can run hand in hand and in balance," said Fanny, who has served as Chair of Srikandi PELNI since 2023. As a competent resource person in the field of mental health, Srikandi PELNI presents Dr. Elvine Gunawan, SP.Kj as a specialist in psychiatry. In his presentation, dr. Elvine revealed the need to maintain mental health and manage emotions in the workplace to avoid the dangers of mental illness.
"Mental and mental health are very important to maintain to avoid depression and prolonged negative feelings. One way is to consult a psychologist or psychiatrist," he said.
Elvine also added, "if you are not feeling well, don't let it be and become a trigger for poison for others, but consult immediately."
Different generational backgrounds also affect work culture and performance. "For that, each generation must be able to balance and provide understanding to each other to maintain good communication and coordination to avoid divisions in work," said the doctor who practices at RSIA Limijati Bandung.
At the end of the event, President Director of PT PELNI (Persero) Tri Andayani said that this mental health seminar activity is expected to build awareness about the importance of mental health. With a positive mentality, a worker is expected to be wiser in controlling emotions, can create a healthy work environment, increase productivity and job satisfaction, and foster a sense of solidarity in the work environment.
