PELNI and Ministry of Transportation Facilitate Free Motorcycle Transport for Eid Homecomi

The 2024 Free Motorcycle Homecoming by Sea Program, organized by the Ministry of Transportation in collaboration with PELNI, successfully transported thousands of travelers using KM Dobonsolo.

The Ministry of Transportation, through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, collaborated with PT PELNI (Persero) to implement the 2024 Free Motorcycle Homecoming by Sea Program. This no-cost program utilized KM Dobonsolo as the designated vessel, serving the Jakarta–Semarang route for the outbound journey and the Semarang–Jakarta route for the return.

Many travelers expressed how beneficial the program was. It allowed them to return to their hometowns more safely and comfortably, without the physical strain of riding motorcycles over long distances. Traveling by sea provided a more enjoyable and meaningful homecoming experience.

The departure ceremony was held at Tanjung Priok Port on Saturday (April 6) and was attended by Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation for the 2016–2024 period, Budi Karya Sumadi. He expressed his appreciation for the public’s enthusiasm and participation, viewing the program as a way to support the government’s effort in promoting a cheerful and meaningful Eid homecoming while also reducing the risk of road accidents.

Budi also personally inspected the program’s execution and noted the high level of enthusiasm among participants. He announced that the full quota had been reached, with 4,800 motorcycles and 9,600 passengers registered.

Also present at the event was Hery Susanto, Member of the Indonesian Ombudsman, who observed the departure process and supported the implementation of safe and well-organized public services ahead of the Eid travel season.
