PT PELNI (Persero) held a tour on board activity by inviting hundreds of students from Pantai Indah Cilincing Private Elementary School, North Jakarta, to explore KM Kelud at Tanjung Priok Port on Friday, June 20, 2025. This educational initiative aimed to introduce maritime insight to younger generations in the company’s operational areas.
PELNI’s Corporate Secretary, Evan Eryanto, stated that the students’ visit was part of the company’s social responsibility program to educate the public. “We hope that this visit can broaden the students’ understanding of the role of sea transportation in uniting the islands of the archipelago,” said Evan.
A total of 414 students and 29 teachers took part in the tour, welcomed by PELNI Jakarta Branch Head Dicky Dermawandi and KM Kelud’s Captain Herman. The group explored the ship’s facilities, including passenger cabins, a mini theater, cafeteria, and the ship’s control bridge. The school principal, Arifin, also accompanied the visit.
Participants were also educated on sailing safety, such as how to use life jackets and the importance of safety equipment on board. KM Kelud is a type-2000 vessel serving the Jakarta–Batam–Tanjung Balai Karimun–Medan round-trip route, and is well-regarded by the public for its comfort and amenities.
