Press Release
PT PELNI (Persero)
No: 06.15/50/PR/VI/2025
Jakarta, June 15, 2025 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) has recorded a significant surge in passenger numbers following the implementation of a government economic stimulus policy, offering a 50% discount on PELNI ship tickets starting June 5, 2025, for departures until July 31, 2025.
According to sales data from June 5 to June 14, 2025, a total of 197,625 passengers have booked PELNI ship tickets for travel through the end of July 2025. This figure marks a 138% increase compared to the same period last year, which saw 142,917 passengers. The rise coincides with the upcoming school holiday from June 26 to July 13, 2025.
PELNI Corporate Secretary Evan Eryanto stated that the surge reflects strong public enthusiasm for the economic stimulus policy. “During the first week of the discount implementation, we recorded the highest sales on June 10, with 24,924 passengers. This indicates that the 50% discount has encouraged families, in particular, to take advantage of the school holidays for vacations or homecomings,” said Evan.
Despite the spike in passenger numbers, Evan emphasized that safety remains a top priority. The company continues to coordinate with port authorities to monitor the maximum capacity onboard to ensure smooth embarkation and disembarkation processes.
“We also urge passengers to book tickets early through official channels and arrive at the port on time with proper identification. We remain committed to ensuring our fleet is ready to serve the public during the school holiday period,” Evan added.
As part of its support for government programs, PELNI aims to ensure that this ticket discount initiative enhances interregional connectivity in Indonesia, promotes domestic tourism, and expands public access to safe and affordable sea transportation. Through this initiative, PELNI contributes to the government's vision of boosting the national economy by increasing mobility and tourism activities during the holiday season.
The PELNI ticket discount policy applies across all official PELNI ticket sales channels, including the PELNI Mobile app, PELNI website, contact center 162, branch ticket counters, BCA Mobile Lifestyle feature, Sukha by Livin Mandiri, BNI Agen46, BRImo, Indomaret and OMI (Indogrosir partners), Alfamart and Alfamidi outlets, ATA Tour, Fastpay, easybook.com, via.com, MMBC, Darmawisata Indonesia, as well as Versa and Topindo.
For payments, PELNI has partnered with Bank BTN, BRIVA, BNI Virtual Account, Permata Bank, Mandiri Virtual Account, Indomaret and OMI (Indogrosir partners), Alfamart and Alfamidi networks, iSaku, Finpay, and Fastpay.
