PELNI Predicts December 19, 2024 as the Peak of Nataru Mudik Flow

PT PELNI (Persero) predicts that the peak of homecoming travel and the Nataru holiday will occur on H-6 or December 19, 2024.

PELNI Predicts December 19, 2024, as the Peak of Nataru Homecoming Travel

Jakarta, December 2, 2024 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia, or PT PELNI (Persero), is committed to providing reliable and excellent transportation services for Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025. PELNI predicts that the peak of the Nataru homecoming and holiday travel period will occur on December 19, 2024, six days before Christmas (H-6).  

Nuraini Dessy W, Director of Passenger Transport Business, estimates that approximately 27,941 passengers will travel on PELNI ships on December 19. "The central region of Indonesia, such as Makassar, Baubau, Balikpapan, and NTT, is expected to contribute up to 40% of this figure," said Dessy.  

In the central region, PELNI operates 11 passenger ships, with another 11 ships serving the eastern region and 4 ships serving the western region. Dessy noted that the busiest routes in the central region are Makassar-Baubau, with a projected 7,172 passengers during the Nataru period, followed by Baubau-Makassar (6,598 passengers) and Surabaya-Makassar (4,723 passengers).  

The Nataru period for PELNI runs from December 11, 2024, to January 8, 2025. The peak of the return flow is predicted to occur on January 6, 2025 (H+12), with an estimated 22,315 passengers. Dessy reminded customers that PELNI ship tickets are available through all official sales channels provided by PELNI and its partners.  

Passengers can purchase tickets via digital channels such as the PELNI Mobile app or the official PELNI website. Tickets are also available on various banking apps, including BCA Mobile Lifestyle, Mandiri Livin Sukha, and BNI Agen46, as well as through Indomaret, Alfamart, Alfamidi, and other partner networks.  

For payments, PELNI collaborates with Bank BTN, BRIVA, BNI Virtual Account, Permata Bank, Mandiri Virtual Account, Indomaret and OMI partners, Alfamart and Alfamidi networks, iSaku, Finpay, and Fastpay.  

The utilization of digital sales channels aligns with the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises' directive to encourage PELNI to undergo business and service transformation through information technology. PELNI also coordinates with the Ministry of Transportation to ensure smooth and safe operations during the Nataru period.  

For Nataru 2024/2025, PELNI will operate 25 owned passenger ships and 30 pioneer ships assigned by the Ministry of Transportation. This year, PELNI's 25 passenger ships have a total capacity of 48,323 seats, serving 72 ports. Pioneer ships add a total capacity of 11,889 seats, serving 236 ports.
