Strengthening Coordination, PELNI President Director Meets Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy

Jakarta, 29 January 2026 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) held an audience with the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KASAL), Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali, S.E., M.M., M.Tr.Opsla, at Wisma Elang Laut, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (28/1).

The meeting was attended by PELNI President Director Tri Andayani, accompanied by PELNI Director of Human Resources and General Affairs Heri Purnomo, as well as PELNI Director of Cargo Transportation and Sea Toll Services Kokok Susanto.

PELNI President Director Tri Andayani, familiarly known as Anda, stated that the meeting was part of the collaboration between State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to strengthen security and maritime safety governance within PELNI’s operational environment.

“We would like to express our gratitude to the Chief of Staff of the Navy and his staff for the opportunity to meet and discuss the support of the Indonesian Navy in maintaining maritime security and safety. We believe this collaboration will further strengthen national connectivity,” said Anda.

The collaboration between PELNI and the Indonesian Navy is realized through the assignment of Navy personnel across various PELNI operational lines. In 2025, a total of 377 Indonesian Navy personnel were involved in 111 security voyages aboard PELNI vessels, covering escort operations on 14 ships. Each voyage was supported by 3–5 Navy personnel, and during peak seasons, the number could be increased to up to 6 personnel per voyage.

In addition to onboard security, the Indonesian Navy also provides onshore support through the placement of personnel as liaison officers. One senior officer (Pati) is stationed at the PELNI Head Office, while four mid-level officers (Pamen) are assigned to branch offices. Currently, there are also 380 Navy personnel on duty at 43 PELNI branch offices and 32 personnel at 13 PELNI terminal points.

Anda explained that these assignments are carried out with strong coordination between the Indonesian Navy and PELNI, and will continue to be evaluated regularly to ensure effectiveness and alignment with shared objectives.

“We are optimistic that this synergy will create a safer, more professional, and more competitive PELNI, while also strengthening the strategic role of maritime transportation in supporting national development,” Anda added.

Through close synergy with the Indonesian Navy and related stakeholders, PELNI is committed to continuously strengthening security governance, maritime safety, and the resilience of national maritime transportation to support connectivity and economic growth throughout the Indonesian archipelago.
