Average Load Factor Increases in 2021, PELNI Receives an Award from the Ministry of Transp

The average load factor until August 2021 reached 88.56% for nine sea toll routes.

Yogyakarta, 14 September 2021 - For the success of carrying out the assignment of Sea Toll Ship Transport, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) won an award from the Ministry of Transportation, namely the marine toll operator with the "Best Load Factor". The award was given in the "National Coordination Meeting of the Sea Toll Road" which was attended by all stakeholders of the marine transportation industry in Yogyakarta, Tuesday (14/9).

The award was given directly by the Head of Research and Development Center for Sea, River, Lake and Crossing Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, Ir. Gunung Hutapea, M.M to the President Director of PT PELNI (Persero) Insan Purwarisya L Tobing.

After receiving the award, Insan expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Transportation for the appreciation given to PT PELNI. This appreciation cannot be separated from the role of the Ministry of Transportation c.q. The Directorate General of Sea Transportation who continues to support PT PELNI to be able to maximize the Sea Toll Program by implementing a ship promote the trade pattern in which these sea toll vessels operate with a regular linear service pattern. With the application of this pattern, of course, it can encourage inter-island trade so that the economy and trade in the region can grow. “In the sixth year of the assignment of the sea toll road since November 4, 2015, public confidence continues to grow to take advantage of the sea toll road. We continue to collaborate with the Regional Government and industry players so that they can increase their market share," explained Insan.

The award received by PT PELNI further confirms the achievement of the Company's performance in 2021. Company data shows that the average load factor occupancy until August 2021 reaches 88.56% for nine sea toll routes. This figure is higher than in 2020 in the same period of 58%.

Of the nine sea toll routes, the route with the highest load factor is T-10 at 197%, with a total of 2,123 TEUs and T-13 at 120% with a total of 1,355 TEUs. T-10 (KM Logistik Nusantara 5) serves the Tg. Perak – Tidore – Morotai – Galela – Maba/Buli – Veda – Tg.Perak and T-13 (KM Logistik Nusantara 3) serving the Tg. Perak - Makassar - Jailolo - Morotai - Tg. Silver.

As of August 2021, PT PELNI has transported 8,164 TEUs of cargo, consisting of 5,126 TEUs of departing loads and 3,038 TEUs of return loads. "When compared to 2020 in the same period, PELNI's cargo until August 2021 rose 68% or increased by 3,316 TEUs. , "said Human.

Previously in 2020, PT PELNI had also received an award for the sea toll program from the Ministry of Transportation, namely the BUMN Operator with the Most Load Factor in Semester 1 of Special Livestock Transport Service Activities and Operators with the Most Loads in Semester 1 of Sea Toll Activities.

"This is proof of the success of PT PELNI which has carried out the assignment of the sea toll program consistently for six years of sea toll journeys. We continue to be committed to serving the community to disadvantaged, remote, outermost and border areas," said Insan.

Insan added that the award received by PT PELNI was the result of the hard work of PELNI Personnel who continued to carry out their work well during the Covid-19 Pandemic. "We hope that this award can further improve the Company's performance, especially its contribution to the success of the sea highway program to ensure inter-island economic connectivity," concluded Insan.

For information, in 2021 PT PELNI (Persero) won the trust of the Government to run nine sea toll routes, namely:

1. The T-19 route is navigable by KM Logistik Nusantara 2 with the route Merauke – Pomako - Kokas – Sorong – Supriori/Biak – Depapre/Jayapura

2. The T-15 route is navigable by KM Logistik Nusantara 3 with the Tg. Perak - Makassar - Jailolo - Morotai - Tg. Silver.

3. The T-3 route is navigable by KM Logistik Nusantara 4 with the Tg. Priok - Patimban - Deer - Tarempa - Pulau Laut - Natuna - Subi - Serasan - Midai - Tg. Priok

4. The T-10 route is navigable by KM Logistik Nusantara 5 with the Tg. Silver - Tidore - Morotai - Galela - Maba - Vedas - Tg. Silver

5. Route H-1 is navigable by KM Logistik Nusantara 6 with route Tg. Perak - Makassar - Tahuna - Tg. Silver.

6. The T-14 route is navigable by KM Kendhaga Nusantara 7 with the Tg. Silver - Lewoleba - Larantuka - Tg. Silver

7. The T-13 route is navigable by KM Kendhaga Nusantara 11 with the Tg. Silver- Rote - Sabu - Tg. Silver

8. The T-18 route is navigable by KM Kendhaga Nusantara 8 with the Tg. Perak - Badas - Bima - Tg. Silver

9. The T-5 route is navigable by KM Kendhaga Nusantara 1 with the route Bitung - Ulusiau - Tahuna - Tagulandang - Lirung/Melonguane - Miangas - Marore - Tahuna - Bitung

PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise which is engaged in sea transportation to date has operated as many as 26 passenger ships and visited 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.

In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,811 segments. PELNI also operates 16 Rede vessels. While in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 9 sea toll routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
