Government Provides Discounted PELNI Ship Tickets for All Routes

Welcoming the Christmas and New Year Holidays, Government Provides Discounted PELNI Ship Tickets for All Routes

Jakarta, 21 November 2025 — The Government of Indonesia, through the Ministry of Transportation, has once again launched an economic stimulus program ahead of the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays. Discounted fares for economy-class tickets will be available starting at 12.00 WIB, Friday (21/11).

PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) has been assigned to implement this economic stimulus program in the form of discounted tickets for economy-class passenger ships. PELNI Corporate Secretary Evan Eryanto stated that ticket sales with discounted fares will begin on Friday (21/11) for travel dates from 17 December 2025 to 10 January 2026. “This applies to all destinations or ports served by passenger ships using economy class,” Evan said.

For the 2025 Christmas and New Year economic stimulus program, the Government is providing a 20 percent discount from the base fare. Evan explained that the base fare refers to the price before insurance and port charges are added.

“After adding insurance and port charges, the average discount becomes equivalent to 16–18 percent, and this applies only to economy-class passenger ship tickets, which can be purchased through all PELNI ticket sales channels,” Evan added.

Based on the budget allocated by the Government, this fare discount stimulus targets 405,881 passengers during the upcoming holiday period. Ticket prices will return to normal once the stimulus quota is sold out.

“If public demand is high, it is possible that the discounted tickets will sell out even before the end of the travel period on 10 January 2026, especially since PELNI’s digital ticketing platforms are very easy to access, both through the PELNI Mobile app and Himbara banking apps,” Evan said.

Evan provided an example: the normal fare from Semarang to Karimun Jawa is Rp 134,500. After applying a 20 percent discount on the base fare and adding insurance and port charges, the final fare becomes Rp 114,300.

For reference, port charges vary by region. For example, the port charge in Semarang is Rp 27,500 while at Belawan Port it is Rp 47,500.

Another fare simulation example: for the Belawan–Batam route, the normal fare of Rp 304,000 becomes Rp 254,300 after adding the port charge of Rp 47,500 and insurance of Rp 6,000.

The discounted fare policy for PELNI ships applies across all PELNI ticket purchase channels, including PELNI Mobile app, PELNI website, contact center 162, branch ticket counters, BCA Mobile Lifestyle feature, OVO, Sukha by Livin Mandiri, BNI agen46, BRImo, Indomaret and OMI Indogrosir networks, Alfamart and Alfamidi networks, ATA Tour, Fastpay, easybook.com, via.com, MMBC, Darmawisata Indonesia, as well as Versa and Topindo.

For payment methods, PELNI has partnered with Bank BTN, BRIVA, BNI Virtual Account, Permata Bank, Mandiri Virtual Account, Indomaret and OMI Indogrosir networks, Alfamart and Alfamidi networks, iSaku, Finpay, and Fastpay.
