KM Labobar Resumes Voyage After Grounding Incident in Tual
Jakarta, July 7, 2025 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) extends its sincerest apologies to all passengers for the grounding incident involving KM Labobar at Tual Port, Maluku, which caused a three-hour delay on Monday (7/7).
The grounding occurred as the vessel was maneuvering to depart from Tual Pier at 03:12 LT. In response to the situation, KM Labobar’s captain and the Tual Branch Head, Teguh Hari Pribadi, worked in close coordination with the Tual pilotage authorities to free the vessel.
Thanks to the effective cooperation and communication of all parties involved, KM Labobar was successfully refloated and resumed its voyage to the next port as scheduled at around 06:00 LT.
PELNI Corporate Secretary Evan Eryanto issued an apology for the inconvenience experienced by KM Labobar passengers and confirmed that the vessel was safe to operate. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this incident. KM Labobar has undergone a thorough inspection and no significant damage was found, so the vessel has been cleared to resume operations safely, with sailing safety as our top priority,” said Evan.
Evan also expressed his gratitude to the port authorities, Tual pilotage team, and all parties who responded to the incident swiftly and professionally.
“We continue to coordinate with the local port authorities and pilotage team to ensure smooth operations and prevent similar incidents in the future,” Evan added.
PELNI assures that the incident has not caused any significant disruption to KM Labobar’s sailing schedule. The vessel continues to serve its route as planned, under strict safety protocols, prioritizing the security of all passengers.
