PELNI Distributes Hundreds of Grocery Packages

Jakarta, May 22, 2020 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) - PT PELNI (Persero) distributed social assistance to nearly 500 food packages distributed to residents in Jakarta, Bekasi, and Karawang. The activity is a form of the Company's concern for the people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as assistance to others in the context of the holy month of Ramadan 1441 H.

Aid was symbolically handed over by PT PELNI (Persero) Managing Director, Insan Purwarisya L Tobing to representatives of beneficiary residents, and witnessed by North Petojo Village Chief, Indarto at the PT PELNI (Persero) Head Office, Jakarta on Friday morning (22/5).

The Head of Corporate Secretariat of PT PELNI (Persero), Yahya Kuncoro conveyed that a number of food packages have been distributed through several foundations in Jakarta such as the Ar-Risalah Foundation, Nurul Ibad Foundation, the Seed Foundation Benevolent Alhasyim, Al Hijrah Foundation, the Indonesian Student and Youth Foundation, and the foundation in Bekasi, the An-Nuur Orphanage Foundation.

In addition, several packages have also been given directly to residents around the Company.

"The management hopes that the food packages provided can be useful and can alleviate the community's need for staples ahead of the Idul Fitri holiday in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic," Yahya said.

Previously, in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, PT PELNI has also channeled a number of assistance such as providing transportation for medical personnel and medical equipment assistance for PELNI Hospital, providing a number of multivitamins, cloth masks, and PPE clothes for all crew.

PELNI is a State-Owned Enterprise that operates in the field of sea transportation has currently operated as many as 26 passenger ships and visited 83 ports and served 1,100 sections.

In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which become a means of accessibility for population mobility in the T3P area where pioneer vessels stop at 275 ports with 3,739 sections. PELNI also operates a total of 20 Rede vessels.

Whereas in the logistics business services, PELNI now operates 4 cargo ships, 8 sea toll vessels, and 1 cattle-specific vessel.
