Jakarta, July 8, 2020 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) - PELNI is ready to support the Government in advancing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. This was done by PT PELNI (Persero) to encourage MSMEs to maximize their businesses and programs that will be run in the middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

PT PELNI (Persero) is a Shipping Company that can not only carry passengers, but in accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 59 of 2020 and Minister of Trade's Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 53 of 2020, in this case the sea toll ship operated by PELNI can transport basic goods , other important items including production results produced by SMEs.

The Director of Goods and Sea Toll Road Transportation Business, Masrul Khalimi said that PELNI is ready to support the Government's policy in promoting MSMEs. "We will try to maximize the PELNI logistics transportation so that it can be used by SMEs in transporting their products to the archipelago," explained Masrul Khalimi.

Not only via sea toll vessels, but also PELNI's passenger ships also have ample room to be used in shipping goods produced by MSMEs, and PELNI has 45 branch offices spread across Indonesia so MSMEs do not need to worry about shipping goods across the archipelago, including T3P areas, namely Disadvantaged, Remote, Outermost, and Border Areas.

"MSMEs can utilize PELNI containers that can be transported using passenger ships that have wide routes with LCL (Less Container Loaded) shipping counts, ie shipments that do not reach one full container with cubication counts," explained Masrul Khalimi.

Hopefully, with the support of PT PELNI (Persero) through this PELNI ship it can support the progress of MSMEs in Indonesia. "We hope that SMEs in Indonesia remain enthusiastic in producing their processed products even in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, so as to increase economic growth in Indonesia," explained Masrul Khalimi.

PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in the field of sea transportation has currently operated as many as 26 passenger ships and visited 83 ports and served 1,100 sections.

In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the T3P area where pioneer vessels stop at 275 ports with 3,739 sections. PELNI also operates a total of 20 Rede vessels. Whereas in the logistics business services, PELNI now operates 4 cargo ships, 8 sea toll vessels and 1 special cattle ship.
