PELNI Journalist Competition 2024

As a transportation company reaching its 72nd anniversary in 2024, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) has made significant strides with various service and business transformations over the past 10 years. However, the challenges and opportunities to provide national maritime transportation reaching all major and minor ports across hundreds of islands remain significant.

Not only to address various strategic issues regarding its role and duties, but PELNI also organizes the "PT PELNI Journalistic Works Competition 2024" as a form of appreciation for the attention of fellow journalists who have been highlighting maritime issues in Indonesia through reporting from various perspectives.

PELNI will also celebrate its 72nd anniversary on April 28, 2024, so the journalistic works produced from this competition are expected to serve as inspiration not only for PELNI but also for all other stakeholders in efforts to increase attention to Indonesia's maritime conditions, especially equitable access to maritime transportation for people relying on it for their daily lives.

F. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION

1. Participants must be Indonesian citizens working as journalists in local or national mass media, either print or online.
2. Open to journalists officially registered with the Press Council or have undergone the Journalist Competency Test, or are members of Press Council constituent organizations.
3. Specifically for the opinion article category, open to lecturers and students enrolled in national and private universities in Indonesia and officially registered with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
4. Each journalist/lecturer/student is allowed to submit or participate with a maximum of 2 (two) works.
5. Works must not contain elements of SARA (Ethnicity, Religion, Race, and Intergroup Relations), pornography, violence, or anything contrary to Indonesian law.
6. Registered works must have been published or broadcasted in the mass media publicly between March 1, 2024, and July 15, 2024.
7. Any claims of ownership by others over participants' works are entirely the responsibility of the participant.
8. If violations of these terms and conditions are discovered later, the committee reserves the right to cancel the victory, and prizes may be revoked with a 30-day objection period after the announcement of the winners.
9. By submitting works for this competition, participants are deemed to understand and comply with all regulations and rules set by the committee.
10. The competition is free of charge, so no fees are required.
11. PT PELNI (Persero) may use participants' works submitted to the competition (either in full or in part) as part of its non-commercial publications, such as internal company publications (e.g., annual reports, calendars, infographics, etc.).
12. For limited publication on PT PELNI (Persero) social media, the name of the journalist/photographer/writer will still be credited.

G. PARTICIPATION PROCEDURES

Submit administrative documents, as follows:

1. Latest, complete, and clear personal data.
2. Scan or photo of ID card/Driver's license/Passport
3. Scan or photo of Press ID/ Lecturer ID/ Active Student ID.
4. Scan or photo of Tax Identification Number card.

Journalistic works competing according to categories, as follows:

Feature/In-depth Articles

1. The submitted written work must be in the form of an article, an original work whose authenticity can be accounted for, not a translation or a direct quote from press releases, not a translation, and not considered commercial advertorials.
2. The submitted written work must have been published or broadcasted and has gone through the editing process.
3. Judging will be done without revealing the participant's identity, so participants are expected to submit their written works in Microsoft Word format according to the publication/broadcast proof.
4. Participants must submit proof of publication in print media in the form of clippings or photos/results of photos/screenshots/scan of news pages (PDF/JPG) in full (one full page).
5. Proof of online media coverage in the form of URL links to news site pages and screenshots of news pages.

Photos Journalism

1. Photo works in softcopy format, JPG, minimum size 2MB and maximum size 10MB.
2. Photo editing is limited to cropping, contrast, and saturation.
3. Title and caption of the photo should be written in the provided column in Google Form. File naming: Photo Title - Participant's Name - Media Origin - Phone Number.
4. Participants must submit proof of publication in the form of photo results/screenshots and URL links to news site pages showing the entire page containing the photo.

Opinion Articles

1. Opinion article works are original works by active lecturers/students published in national/regional print media.
2. Ideas and discussions in opinion articles contain or align with the specified theme and subthemes.
3. The content of opinion articles does not contain elements of SARA, pornography, violence, or anything contrary to Indonesian law.
4. All ideas and thoughts in opinion articles are the personal perspectives of the writer and the writer's full responsibility.
5. Participants must submit proof of publication in print media in the form of clippings or photo/results of photo/screenshots/scan of news pages (PDF/JPG) in full (one full page).
