The Post-Homecoming Abolition Period is Extended, PELNI Tightens Health Protocols

In accordance with Addendum SE Kasatgas Number 13 of 2021, the post-homecoming period which originally ended on May 24, 2021 was extended to May 31, 2021.

Jakarta, 25 May 2021 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) is tightening health protocols on PELNI fleets in the post-homecoming period. In accordance with Addendum SE Kasatgas Number 13 of 2021, the post-homecoming period which originally ended on May 24, 2021 was extended to May 31, 2021.

Acting Head of Corporate Secretary of PT PELNI Opik Taufik said that the extension of this period is specifically for inter-regional travelers within Sumatra Island and trips from Sumatra Island to Java Island. "We will tighten the health protocol on board the PELNI ship. We also verify the files for the travel requirements carefully according to the Company's procedures, especially for trips on the island of Sumatra and trips from the island of Sumatra to the island of Java, "he said.

In accordance with the SE Kasatgas addendum No. 13 of 2021, travel restrictions will still apply to travelers on the island of Sumatra and travelers from Sumatra to Java, namely by attaching a negative result through the RT PCR / Rapid Test Antigen or GeNose C19 examination with a result of 1x24 hours. "Especially for travelers in other areas, the conditions for travel by PELNI Ship will re-apply the negative test results of Rapid Antigen and RT-PCR which are carried out a maximum of 3x24 hours before the ship's scheduled departure. For a negative test result, GeNose C19 is still a maximum of 1x24 hours before the scheduled departure, "said Opik.

The company has now reopened online ticket sales services through the Company's official website and PELNI Mobile Apps, 162 contact centers, travel agents, and ticket sales partners. "We have activated all ticket sales channels to accommodate our customers again since the end of the elimination of the homecoming period, namely on May 18, 2021," explained Opik.

The company noted that during the pre-homecoming tightening period from April 22 to May 5, 2021, PELNI served 63,535 passengers using passenger ships and 24,134 passengers using pioneer ships. Meanwhile, during the elimination of homecoming for the period 6 May - 17 May 2021, the number of non-homecoming passengers served by passenger ships decreased to 4,639 passengers and 12,061 passengers using pioneer ships.

"In the post-homecoming period from 18 to 24 May 2021, PT PELNI has delivered 57,759 passengers on passenger ships and 15,584 passengers on pioneer ships," explained Opik.

Opik added that until Tuesday (25/5) there were five congested routes on passenger ships, namely Belawan - Batam Island, ParePare - Tarakan, BauBau - Makassar, Nabire - Jayapura, and Tarakan - ParePare. Meanwhile, the congested routes on pioneer shipping include Masalembo - Kalianget, Sanana - Ternate, Sintete - Tanjung Pinang, ToliToli - Tarakan, and Raas Island - Jangkar.

"In carrying out operational activities, the Company always pays attention to the implementation of health protocols so that shipping is expected to remain safe and comfortable for all customers," concluded Opik.

PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise which is engaged in sea transportation has currently operated 26 passenger ships and stopped at 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.

Apart from passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,811 sections. PELNI also operates 16 Rede ships. Meanwhile, in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 9 sea highway routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
