To Increase Return Load, PELNI Invites Local Governments to Boost Leading Commodities

PT PELNI (Persero) invites Regional Governments to maximize the return cargo of sea tolls, by utilizing superior commodities in each region

Jakarta, May 4, 2021 - As one of the sea toll operators, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) invites Regional Governments to maximize the return cargo of sea tolls, by utilizing superior commodities in each region. The company continues to support the Government's efforts to expand the superior commodity market from one region to another through reverse loading.

Acting. The Head of the PT PELNI Company Secretariat Opik Taupik said that the return cargo from the eastern region showed an increase compared to previous years. "We really appreciate the local government which has started to take advantage of the return load of regional production. We open the door as wide as possible for regional MSMEs to expand their market share for their superior commodities, "he said.

Until April 2021, PT PELNI has transported 1,282 TEUs of return cargo on marine toll ships. Route T-15 which serves the Tg. Perak - Makassar - Jailolo - Morotai - Tg. Perak with KM Logistik Nusantara 3, became the highest contributor to return cargo, which was 323 TEUs.

"The cargo is in the form of coconut wood, copra, logs and marine products. Apart from that, for the first time from Jailolo we also transported one container of VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) in voyage four, "explained Opik.

Opik added, it was recorded that from January to April 2021 PT PELNI had transported 2,289 TEUs of cargo departing, this had increased by 1,037 TEUs or an increase of 82.8% from a total of 1,252 TEuses when compared to 2020 in the same period.

"The company will continue to support the marine highway program and is committed to serving the community, especially the 3TP area. We continue to encourage local governments to expand the market share of their superior commodities for distribution throughout the archipelago, "added Opik.

For information, in 2021 PT PELNI operates nine sea highway assignment routes, namely:

1.H-1 (KM Logistik Nusantara 1): Tg. Perak - Makassar - Tahuna - Tg. Silver

2.T-3 (KM Logistik Nusantara 4): Tg. Priok - Kijang - Tarempa - Sea Island - Natuna - Subi - Serasan - Midai - Tg. Priok

3.T-5 (KM Kendhaga Nusantara 1): Bitung - Tahuna - Tagulandang - Lirung - Miangas - Marore - Bitung

4.T-10 (KM Logistik Nusantara 5): Tg. Perak - Tidore - Morotai - Galela - Buli - Maba - Veda - Tg. Silver

5.T-13 (KM Kendhaga Nusantara 11): Kupang - Rote - Sabu - Waingapu - Kupang

6.T-14 (KM Kendhaga Nusantara 7): Maumere - Larantuka - Lewoleba - Kalabahi - Maumere

7.T-15 (KM Logistik Nusantara 3): Tg. Perak - Makassar - Jailolo - Morotai - Tg. Silver

8.T-19 (KM Logistik Nusantara 2): Merauke - Kokas - Sorong - Korido - Depapre - Sorong - Merauke

9.T-18 (KM Kendhaga Nusantara 8): Tg. Perak - Badas - Bima - Tg. Silver

PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise which is engaged in sea transportation has operated 26 passenger ships and stopped at 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.

Apart from passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,811 sections. PELNI also operates 16 Rede ships. Meanwhile, in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 9 sea highway routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
